Bahrain Mirror: Bahrain’s First High Criminal Court, presided over by judge Mohammed bin Ali Al Khalifa began looking into the case of the accused journalist Hani Al-Fardan and editor-in-chief of Al-Wasat Newspaper, Mansour Al-Jamri, who are charged with slandering an extremist Salafist Member of Parliament named Abdul Halim Murad.

The lawyer Abdullah Al-Shamlawi said that the court prevented Sheikh Ali Salman from talking and also prevented his lawyers from delivering their plea. He considered that this step violates the right of defence.

A Bahraini court sentenced an Iraqi national to three years in prison over charges of joining a protest and arson. He is also to be deported after serving his sentence.

Jalila Al-Sayed, member of Al-Wefaq Secretary-General Sheikh Ali Salman's defense panel, stated on Thursday (April 23, 2015) that the court refused the panel's request to show videos containing recordings of the speeches of which the charges against Salman were based on.

Bahrain Mirror: A Bahraini court on Wednesday (April 22, 2015) decided to extend the detention of Sheikh Ali Salman, postponing his trial until May 20, 2015. It was the fourth trial hearing since his arrest at the end of last year.
