Bahrain Mirror: Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Qassim praised the late Sheikh Abdul Amir Al-Jamri "Abu Jameel" who "resurrected the spirit of renaissance in Bahrain and nourished it with his words and positions, and exerted his efforts enduring difficulties on this path."
Marking the "Martyrs' Day" and the anniversary of Sheikh Al-Jamri's death, Ayatollah Qassim expressed that "Martyrs' Day is a day of faith, insight, awareness, conscience, rationality, social sense, manhood and courage, and thus it is a day of pride."
He went on to say that being killed is only deemed martyrdom when one dies for the sake of Allah, and the purer the intention of achieving it is and the more sincere it is and free of impurities, the higher and greater the meaning of this martyrdom is."
He stressed that: "Because martyrdom is to save the nation and be its salvation from injustice, darkness, weakness, humiliation and submissiveness, the martyr is owed a debt from the nation and a fixed right that can't be repaid."
Ayatollah Qassim further pointed out that "a nation that is full of lovers of martyrdom is a nation that is dear, awe-inspiring, victorious, empowered by the people, and a pioneer and dominant presence."
