Bahrain Mirror: National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications, John Kirby, announced on Monday, December 18, 2023, that "the United States will try to strengthen the naval force within the Fifth Fleet in Bahrain to monitor the situation in the Red Sea."
The American CNBC channel quoted Kirby as saying: "What we are trying to do is strengthen it (the force) and operate in ways that may not have been activated before the Houthi (Ansar Allah in Yemen) attacks."
The US announcement came after a large number of shipping companies stopped sending their ships through the Red Sea and the Suez Canal due to Sanaa's growing threat to target Israeli ships or those heading to the occupation entity, in support of the Gaza Strip.
