Bahrain Mirror: The Bahrain Center for Human Rights (BCHR) affirmed that “human rights violations in Bahrain are ongoing and go against the international approach of recognizing all these rights."
The BCHR indicated in a statement marking the International Human Rights Day that “arrests over peaceful demonstrations continue to take place arbitrarily in Bahrain, and freedom of expression and religion are restricted, not to mention undermining the work of civil society institutions through the imposition of restrictions and prosecution of activists.”
“The human rights standards advocated by the United Nations may apply to all peoples and individuals except the Palestinian people, who have been denied their right to defend themselves and their land,” it said, adding: “Even in Bahrain, we cannot as activists or as a people peacefully show our sympathy for the Palestinian people without obtaining a license.”
The center affirmed “the right of peoples to determine their own fate,” and called on the Bahraini government to “abide by the principles of human rights, harmonize legislation with what is stated in these principles, and adopt community partnership to promote the human rights situation.”
