Bahrain Mirror: Sayed Abdullah Al-Ghuraifi criticized the Bahraini authorities' clampdown on the Shiite sect and its practice of Ashura rituals, stressing that Ashura will never be an occasion for provocation or sedition and conflict at home.
Speaking at the Imam Sadiq Mosque in Gufool, on Thursday (July 28, 2022), Al-Ghuraifi stressed that "Ashura is an occasion of tolerance, rapprochement and unity that concerns not only Shiites but all Muslims and the world... Why do you want to punish me for a banner I raised on a street or atop my house, how would this affect the country's security and policies?"
Al-Ghuraifi called for concerted efforts to make the Ashura season successful and give it real space, especially in Bahrain, which has a long history of Ashura commemoration. He also called for the collaboration of all official and popular capabilities to make this project a success.
Al-Ghuraifi highlighted that Ashura will never be an occasion to provoke sedition or conflicts in this country or in any other country, "and if you want to place the occasion at the heart of the crisis," he said," Ashura is not a crisis and we will not think one day to cause the situation of the homeland to be more difficult through Ashura discourse, as this conscious and meaningful discourse protects the homelands and the paths of peoples".
