Bahrain Mirror: The US ambassador to Bahrain Justin Siberell said that bilateral trade between Bahrain and his country exceeded $3 billion last year, pointing out the importance of the free trade agreement between the two countries.
The Ambassador highlighted that the FTA, which the United States shares with Bahrain, is one of only two such agreements between the United States and the Gulf Cooperation Council. This is important. Their purpose, of course, is to increase trade between our two countries, but more importantly, to increase prosperity of our two peoples.
"Since the FTA entered into force in 2006, bilateral trade has increased nearly threefold. In 2018, bilateral trade exceeded $ 3 billion, a record high of 59.84% over 2017," he noted.
He further said that there are more than 200 US companies in Bahrain, adding that according to their latest figures, it shows that in 2017, US foreign direct investment in Bahrain reached $423 million, while Bahraini foreign direct investment in the United States reached $281 million in the same period.
