Bahrain Mirror: A civil defense team managed to extinguish a second major fire in the warehouse of the International Agencies Company Limited (Intercol) for import and logistics services, located in the industrial zone of Mina Salman. The fire caused a black cloud that covered the skies of the Bahraini capital Manama.
A total of 23 vehicles, 11 officers and 62 members of the Civil Defense participated in the fire-fighting operation. The first vehicle arrived two minutes after the first report was received by the Civil Defense Operations Room at 2:28 pm, reported Akhbar Al-Khaleej newspaper.
A statement issued by the Ministry of Interior said that the civil defense put out a fire in the warehouses of a company in the industrial zone at port Salman, after containing the fire and carrying out necessary cooling down of the fire.
For his part, the deputy director general of the Civil Defense General Directorate said that immediately after the operation room received a report on the fire, the civil defense vehicles headed to the site. 23 vehicles and 73 officers and staff started the fire fighting operations, by containing the fire and preventing its spreading.
He further stated that investigations are underway to find out the cause of the fire.
Witnesses said parts of the warehouse were still under maintenance since the previous fire broke out on May 8, 2016, and others said that the insulators that were installed in the roofs and walls were burnt due to the dense smoke rising above Manama.
Three and a half hours later, it was announced that the fire had been fully controlled and extinguished, and then the traditional cooling process begun to prevent any possible fire to break out in any part of the warehouse.
