Bahrain Mirror: The US CNN news network published the first documents of the announced lawsuit against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This became possible after the US Congress passed a bill of "Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act" (JASTA), thus allowing families of the 9/11 victims to file lawsuits against foreign countries.

According to CNN, the documents of lawsuit number "cv-1944-16" filed in a Washington D.C. court on September 30, 2016 show that the plaintiff Stephanie DeSimone stated, "Saudi Arabia provided material support to al Qaeda for more than a decade and was aware of the terror group's plan to attack the US."

Stephanie's husband, Navy Cmdr. Patrick Dunn, was killed at the Pentagon on September 11, 2001 at the time when she was 2 months pregnant.

"Absent the support provided by the Kingdom, al Qaeda would not have possessed the capacity to conceive, plan, and execute the September 11th attacks," the documents say.

The lawsuit comes after the Congress voted last Wednesday to override President Barack Obama's veto of the Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act, giving 9/11 victims' families the right to legally pursue Saudi Arabia for its alleged role in the attacks.
