Appeals Court Upheld Prison Sentences of 3 Bahrainis over Assembling in Sanabis

Bahrain Mirror: Bahrain's High Court of Appeals, presided over by judge Mohammad bin Ali Al Khalifa and Abdullah Mohammad Hassan as secretariat, upheld the prison sentences issued against 3 appellants and rejected the appeal of the fourth.

The High Criminal Court convicted 5 suspects of assembling and burning tires in Sanabis. It handed down a 5-year jail term to the first suspect and 3-year jail term to the rest.

The authorities claim that a number of unknown suspects set fire to 4 tires after placing them in the middle of the street in Budai in Sanabis and then fled the scene.

The authorities say that they managed to identify the suspects through "investigations".

The Public Prosecution alleged that the suspects, along with others, deliberately set fire to movable properties on January 19, 2015, endangering people's lives and properties as well as threatening the safety of transportation means after blocking the road with tires, aiming at disrupting traffic. It also accused them of taking part, along with other unknown suspects, in an assembly of more than 5 persons, aiming at disrupting public security.
